PROMOTING MARINE-COASTAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE GULF OF URABÁ-DARIÉN 

WHO ARE WE

The “Corporacion Ambiental” Biomunicipios was created in 2003 as a non-profit entity consisting  of an interdisciplinary group of professionals in the fields of marine sciences and socio-environmental issues. With proper legal status and offices   in Medellin and Turbo, it was established on the basis of an interest and dedication to provide solutions to the environmental problems of the marine-coastal zone in the area of Urabá-Darién.

MISSION

Our mission is, within the context of the National Environment System SINA, pursue the improvement of the environmental conditions and a harmonic relationship between Man and his environment, with emphasis on the natural marine-coastal ecosystems. To this end establish strategic working alliances, focused on protection, conservation and recuperation of the environmental and social heritage through planning, research, training and awareness creation of the communities, on the way to sustainability. 

 VISION

Biomunicipios will be a leader on the development of strategic alliances for the management and development of programmes and projects aimed at improving the environmental quality of the communities. Moreover, Biomunicipios will be an expert on the natural resources and the environment of the areas of its activity.

OBJECTIVES

1. Recuperate and strengthen the environmental culture of the municipalities, achieving a better correspondence with the principles of conservation and protection of the marine-coastal ecosystems

2.  Stimulate social training, information and research, applied to the organisation of programmes of which the resulting understanding contributes to the benefit and conservation of flora, fauna, resources of water and air in the coastal zones.

3. Propose and develop programmes aimed at the protection, conservation and recuperation of natural resources in the area of activity of the Corporation.
